The Staith House is proud to announce we have made it to the top five of the 2016 Seafood Restaurant of the Year Competition. The national award, presented by Seafish and The Caterer, recognises the best restaurants in the UK serving fish and shellfish among their menu offer.

Launched in 2015, Seafood Restaurant of the Year aims to find the best restaurants cooking and serving fish and shellfish, whilst also demonstrating excellent seafood knowledge amongst its staff both front and back of house.

Following a recent mystery dining visit and a further in-depth group judging session, The Staith House was praised by the judges for their strong focus on utilising the finest quality, responsibly sourced local produce and for their knowledgeable and well informed serving staff who provided excellent attentive service.

Andy Gray, trade marketing manager at Seafish, said: “Making it to the Top 5 of Seafood Restaurant of the Year is a great achievement. It is recognition that they exhibit exceptionally high standards, excelling in providing customers with top quality fish and shellfish dining experiences.”

John Calton Chef Patron of The Staith House, said: “We are so proud and over the moon to have made it to the Top 5. This competition is vital to what we do, fish and shellfish is a major part of our offering and getting this far in the competition is like a pat on the back, some recognition for the hard work that all of the team put in. Making it to the final 10 was like winning the lottery but now to be in the Top 5 is out of this world!”
